When it comes to hosting, improving security, reliability, stability and speed is the name of the game. These are the features that we pride ourselves on and what our customers care the most about. And it is for these reasons that we have just completed a migration of all our Linux shared hosting servers to CloudLinux.
Why is this important? What is CloudLinux?
CloudLinux is a specialised shared hosting virtualized environment which isolates each account hosted on the server into its own environment. Think of it as wrapping each hosting account into its own isolated little cocoon. The significance of this is that if anything nasty was to happen to one particular account, it will not affect the rest of the accounts hosted on the server.
Each account has its own limits on the amount of resources (CPU, IO, Memory, Processes, etc.) that can be used. If any account hits the limit, other users on the server would not notice anything because the offender would be immediately throttled. This gives our clients hosted on our servers an extremely stable hosting experience, minimising downtime and maximising performance.
What are the main benefits for you?
Security: CloudLinux locks each account into its own bubble. Any security breaches or hacks on one particular site is locked down and isolated to that site, without affecting any other account on the server.
Performance: Your website will always continue to function at super fast speeds because other websites who have the potential to hog all the server resources and bog you down will be throttled automatically.
Reliability: You will experience greater uptime (even though our uptime is already awesome) as one single account will not be able to cause server wide spikes which traditionally cause downtime.
Sounds fantastic, how much extra is this going to cost me?
CloudLinux is now included with all shared hosting plans at no extra cost. We believe this is a great upgrade to our network and will give our valued customers an even greater level of performance and better overall hosting experience.
